Resources:
·        Model(Jerome)
·        Music Headphones(dr beats)
·        Camera
·        Music studio
·        CD’s?

Camera Shooting:
I will be using my model (Jerome) with his head phones on his head posing seriously (my research shows my genre magazine uses this) I will make him pose like his just done an important interview.

Front Cover:
The colours that I will be using will most likely be red and black but with a plain white background to make the image and the text stands out. I will have the image in the middle of the page so it stands out with the masthead behind the images head. I will have the key features text slightly bigger than the rest of the text like mini sub headings.

Christmas Work:Magazine 1

2.  This magazine above is a well know music magazine. However this is a Christmas special as it says "Massive Christmas double issue" so this appeals to the audience who buy it every week because it’s a Christmas special so they think it going to be more music features inside.
Furthermore on this edition they got a well know music icon in Simon Cowell, they done this because it’s a special edition to the magazine and also because people who don't read 'NME' they will still get drawn in because they will know who Simon Cowell is so they might buy that magazine. As well it will make them want to read on to the contents page to see if there's more about Simon Cowell as his the main focus on the front of the magazine.

3.  NME uses a Christmas theme in the background with the snow over the heading 'NME' and Christmas ball balls with the special inside editions that will be inside, this shows this is a one off Christmas magazine and they won’t use the same theme for every edition. The background colour of grey gets the reader to focus on this picture and helps the title, subheadings and the image stand out more to the reader. To extend the colours used are Christmas colour for an example red and white, the white is representing the snowy theme. The main image used of Simon Cowell is representing the whole music industry, so the audience may want to buy it as they will have feature of their sort of music, so it's not aimed at just one type of music. Lastly the word 'Grinch' is used as it's a well-known Christmas film, so the image of Simon Cowell posing seriously so he reflects his image as an harsh, scary and bossy person similar to Grinch, i also feel with the word 'Grinch' being used it shows that Simon Cowell is rare to be speaking out on a magazine like this similar to the Grinch being quiet character.
4. The research that I done so far is all about this magazine as I read the magazine and then went on to reading the other editions, it is different to this one as it don't use the image in the same way and the background is completely different, also the text box's used are different to this one.

Christmas Holiday Task

Tasks:
Research: 10/11th December to end of term
1.    Collect some evidence of current music magazines: NME, Kerrang, Q
2.    Analyse how they construct meaning for their audience – Front page, contents, double page spreads
3.    Establish a set of rules (codes and conventions they use) / guide to creating a effective music magazine – for each page
4.    Keep a record of your research
Planning: Xmas holidays, for presentation to class 9th January 2012
5.    Decide what type of music magazine you are going to design – what is the purpose of your magazine?
6.    Decide who is the audience (who is it aimed at?) – this will affect your design
7.    Draft sketch what you want on your front cover: colour, images, title, text, etc. – explain why (follow your rules)
8.    Draft ideal contents
9.    Photograph appropriate images for each page: stage a band / artist – consider locations, costume, props, makeup
10. Draft interview for double page spread – consider language used appropriate to genre and audience
11. Keep a record of your planning

This Week in Media

This week in media we had to do a presentation to the rest of the class. In the presentation we was presenting our post 16 magazine front cover and contents page. Where I had to talk about why I used the style that I did, why did I use the colours that I did. Then the rest of the group had to give me feedback on how they think it went, what was good about my magazine design and what could be improved.

Feedback:

What went well?
  • Good use of colour- use the Harris Academy Beckenham colours (red, blue)
  • front page set out well. Also the contents page
  • An attractive front cover and contents page
  • Use the same colour for front cover and contents
  • The front cover theme match's contents page
What could be improved?
  • The text used is not big enough on the front page. Increase the size
  • Use more key words and talk about what I learnt from my research
  • Made the text more clearer and larger
  • Make the sell point the main focus and stand out from other subheadings
My Conclusion:

I think that the feedback that I was given by my class mates was helpful, as they noticed the areas where I went wrong and the way I could improve it ,for an example they talked about the size of the font that I used and next time I should make the font bigger and more clearer, they said the ways I could do this is by printing the front cover out to see what It would look like close up as a magazine with this help I will take into account the feedback when im doing my next task. I think next time when I have to start making my music magazine, I have to do more reasearch before hand and spot out the key aspects that magazines use to drew in their target audience with this help I could make my magazine look even more professional. I also feel in my Christmas holiday I should do reasearch on the computer or even reading a magazine and just get the main details that the magazine uses.

This week in media:7th December

What did we do in this week's lesson:
This week in media I had to finish off and improve my post 16 news magazine front and contents page. I had to make any last minute improvements to it, add any extra things that I felt I need to improve in order to get the best possible magazine.
Why was this lesson helpful?
I felt this lesson was helpful because this was the last lesson to make the magazine the best it can be because it was the last chance I would get before I had to present to my class and give them feedback on what I did and why I did it.
The improvements made:
The improvements that I actually made to my magazine was how the writing was laid out on the contents page and what colour it would have around the writing. I also change the background colour to navy blue as I wanted to firstly make it more 'Harris Academy Beckenham' theme and as well make it match the front cover more as I wasn't quite happy with the link between the two as I felt they was too different.

Post 16 Magazine

What I had to do this week:
This week in media, I had to start making my own magazine front page and contents page for Harris Academy Beckenham sixth form. Firstly I had to take my own photos for the magazine and make up a name for the magazine, Then I had to use what I learn in class in In-Design and ideas from other professional magazines to make my own one.
The colours I used I tried and match the HABE theme which is red and blue as well I used white.

The problems:
The problems that I occurred during this task were the program that I had to use to make this magazine. The problems I had with In-Design is knowing where the tools were and what each one does and how it can make my magazine better. The other problems I had was trying to get the right blend with the type of writing and the images that I took with the colour that I was going to use for the background and the writing

The front Page;my first attempt:

The Contents Page:
As well as making my front cover for the magazine I also made a contents page for it. On this you will see  pictures that I took as well as information of all the topics that's going to be on each page. Again I tried to keep to the same colours that I used which was blue, red and white.

The problems with creating the contents page:
The problems that I had with creating the contents page was the layout of the page, as I struggled to know where I should put the information and what sort of style it should be, as well as the colours being used on the page as I wanted to link it to my front page. I also had problems with what images that I should use as I wanted to refer back to what my actual magazine is about and trying to fill up the space that I had lefted
